Bangkok’s 7-day free public transport initiative saw a 36.81% rise in bus passengers and a 39.62% increase in electric train users. The scheme reduced pollution, with 350,000 fewer vehicles on the streets, but some workers expressed frustration over overcrowding on trains.

The elevated MRT Yellow Line will be open for free trial rides from Saturday onwards now that all safety standards have been met, the Transport Ministry said.
